KCAW - FRESTON ROAD MURAL

Inspiring street art for the local community

Take a stroll down Freston Road and you’ll notice a striking new hoarding thanks to Love Kensington + Chelsea Street Art, a project celebrating the histories of the borough with murals on construction hoardings by local artists, chosen by public vote. Part of Kensington + Chelsea Art Week, the collaboration was led by curator Bolanle Tajudeen with a mural by Linett Kamala and Azarra Amoy.

The Love Kensington + Chelsea mural on Freston Road.

The winning concept is an afrofuturist mural using the idea of Frestonia and its legacy to reimagine a safe state for Black people. Inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement it features images of unsung heroines and heros from the Black community living in Britain and focuses on different parts of British history.

We are thrilled to see our history reimagined in this way and proud to support the powerful message being told.
